ABOUT POLLY

OHSC Mission & Vision
Open Heart Space Therapy operates as a private practice serving clients in-person and through telehealth within Maryland. Services include individual therapy, trauma recovery work, relationship counseling, emotional regulation support, and personal development coaching. Polly’s therapeutic approach blends empathy, evidence-based methods, and a deep respect for each client’s personal journey.

About Polly
Choosing to become a therapist because of your own childhood trauma is powerful, vulnerable and deeply meaningful. I was drawn to this field early in life because I wanted to transform pain into purpose, and that lived experience gave me a unique capacity for empathy, attunement, and understanding. I chose to be a therapist to do something that mattered. Authentically, non-judgementally sitting with people in their most human moments counts in a way few things do.
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
In a non-judgmental, safe, and empathic environment, Polly provides a welcoming place to partner with you to reach your goals whether they be working through trauma, managing complicated relationships, or learning how to verbalize your feelings. Polly believes it is a gift to be trusted with a client’s life story and believes an authentic connection through acknowledgement, reflection, and validation leads to emotional growth and development.
Polly believes that each client is the expert of their life and Polly will provide a supportive relationship to help explore and process emotions, increase self-awareness of negative or unhealthy thinking patterns, and develop effective coping skills and build strengths to his or her goals.
Polly has extensive experience working with adolescents and adults in diverse settings including acute care hospitals, schools, and community therapy centers. Her clients have experienced a wide range of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma, and substance abuse. She uses a multi-faceted approach to therapy because each client is unique, but her focus is generally Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Center Therapy modalities.

Insurance and Payment
As a licensed clinical counselor, I am considered an "out-of-network provider." This means, my professional services qualify for reimbursement under most insurance plans. While I do not participate directly with any insurance company, many plans allow you to apply for reimbursement using the billing statements I give you at each session. With your written permission, I can also provide your insurance company with any additional information about me needed to process your claim.
Payment is required at the time of service. If you would like to use your out-of-network benefits, I recommend that you contact your insurance provider prior to meeting with me to clarify what reimbursement you can expect.
Relevant questions you may want to ask include:
What mental health benefits does my plan offer?
Do I have out-of-network coverage?
Do I have a deductible, and has it been met?
Is pre-certification or pre-authorization required?
And for those who seek couple therapy:
Is couple or family therapy covered by my insurance plan?
